For the third time in the past ten years, I made the hike down the Virgin River and through the entirety of The Narrows in Zion National Park.
Including a day hike up Kolob Canyon, my friend and I traveled about 20 miles in and along the river. Hiking in the 51 degree water for that distance can be a real challenge, but the levels aren’t overly high this time of year and November in Zion always promises the beauty of glorious autumnal colors.
While very few people do the entire Narrows hike from Chamberlain’s Ranch to the Temple of Sinawava, it remains one of my all-time favorite stretches of trail. The 800 foot high walls and slender 25 foot wide stretches of river create a stunning visual wonderland.
